A. SECURE SPACES CONSULTANT SERVICES

Secure Spaces Consultant Services provides the Owner with the design expertise necessary for the conceptual design of a totally independent Secure Space. This expertise is accomplished by a team consisting of architects, engineers and security consultants. It is the Secure Spaces Consultant's job to provide the Owner with a solution that accomplishes the Owner's goals within the parameters established by the following elements:

  • The existing structure(s)
  • Applicable zoning regulations
  • Applicable code regulations
  • Owner's functional requirements
  • Owner's Aesthetic requirements
  • Owner's perceived threats

Through an analysis of these elements, an overall conceptual approach can be established. The following are examples of typical design considerations:

  • Establishing or maintaining the internal circulation and functional relationships between existing spaces of the house and the Secure Space.
  • Utilization of the Secure Space for alternative daily uses such as:
    • Home theater
    • Sound room
    • Recreation room
  • Isolation of the Secure Space by concealment.
  • Provision for alternate means of egress from the Secure Space.
  • Providing the appropriate architectural elements necessary to meet the Owner's perceived threats,
  • Design of the Secure Space considering the location and configuration such that it becomes a natural extension of the existing architectural character.
  • Assessment of the exterior and interior of the home regarding potential security weaknesses.
  • The culmination of the design process yields the following Conceptual Diagrams illustrating these aspects of the Secure Space:
  • Architectural (Secure Space location / room relationships / access points / circulation routes)
  • Security (plan for the resident that has the most likely security breech scenarios planned out)
  • Structural (framing)
  • Mechanical (existing system / backup system)
  • Electrical (existing system / backup system)
  • Plumbing (existing system / backup system)

Upon completion of the Secure Spaces consulting design services the Owner can employ the services of Architects and Engineers of his/her choice to produce the Construction Documents and provide Construction Administration of the project.
